Secret Booth
Sydney Davis
Secrets are divulged mainly under two circumstances: with someone close to you, or with someone so far removed from your life that you know telling them won’t disrupt your status quo. The secrets we keep are telling of who we are by the things we have seen, experienced or done and are unique to each person. Each secret is a direct-access window into the identity of an individual and, above all, I am thirsty to know what is usually unknowable to a complete stranger. With all those that contribute I intend to learn more about humanity.
By looking through these windows, we will see things that surprise us. You never know who in the room said what, and it is exactly this that will raise an awareness that might have laid dormant within you.
You can never be sure what people are going through, so it is imperative that we approach people with kindness and compassion. If only one person chooses to do this after visiting the booth, they and I will have made the world a better place.
Secrets are secrets for a reason, they are usually heavy or incriminating. This is an opportunity to shed that weight, even if just for today. Notice how you feel before and after participating. After the buzz of vulnerability fades, notice differences in your mood and sleep because secret sharing is proven to improve your physical and mental health.
